Sports History:7 years in triathlon, 6 years racing ironman. Previous background in rowing (College then London Rowing Club).
Sporting Highs:Winning "blades" with my college crew (1990), my first sub-3 hour marathon (London 2002), qualifying for Hawaii for the first time in 2005 on a brutal day in Lanzarote and surprising myself with a top 20 AG finish in Hawaii in 2008.
Goals:Top 10 in age group at Kona in 2010, with a sub-3:10 marathon split.
What Motivates you to Train & during Racing :Peter Pan syndrome, oh and the drugs of course (endorphins)
Personal Motto or Favourite Quote :The Ironman is nothing if not about one’s dreams. Sometimes their fulfillment is our fortune and other times failure is our bed to lie upon. But to simply have dreams is the beginning and best of all endings. (Scott Tinley)
Fastest Ironman & 70.3 Finishing Times:IM - 9:28:04 (Switzerland 2009), Half/70.3 4:21 (Lisbon 2008), Hawaii - 9:48:52 (2008)
Fastest Olympic & Sprint Finishing Times:2:09 (Milton Keynes 2004 or 2005)/ Sprint - Can't remember (haven't done one since 2004)
Favourite Swim, Bike or Run Session:Long run (30k+) finishing hard with some great music to speed me along and doing a Tim Don down the finishing straight (to my front door).
Favourite Strength & Conditioning Exercise:Whoops - I don't really do any... (but am trying to put that right at the moment).
